The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable people around the world. The Emergency Response Team is a group of dedicated, trained volunteers who provide relief and recovery management to those affected by both small and large scale disasters in both rural and urban communities.
We are currently seeking key volunteer personnel, with demonstrated leadership skills, who will be accountable for the overall management and implementation of CRC response plans within their geographic area during disaster operations.
As a leader of this dynamic team, you will ensure workers are well trained, aware of their specific responsibilities and available for immediate deployment. You will be responsible for strategic decisions about the best methods of serving clients and providing a pertinent flow of information to those you supervise, as well as ensuring operational debriefings and evaluations occur after responses.
Qualifications
Have a minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership capability with highly developed managerial skills;
Have the ability to commit to a 2 year term;
Have experience coaching and mentoring a diversified team;
Are able to build new, and/or build on, existing relations with key stakeholders in the community;
Are willing to work as part of the team on the front line, as well as manage the team of volunteers;
Have a proven ability to delegate authority, communicate and make decisions in a potentially high stress & fast-paced environment;
Have the capabilities to be a strategic planner;
Must posses the ability to handle confidential information;
Be comfortable with the potential for media relations, public relations and fundraising;
Must possess excellent communication skills in English; French would be an asset but is not mandatory;
Must obtain a clean criminal record check at no expense to you;
